Piero Bittolo BonPiero Bittolo Bon – alto and baritone saxophone, alto and bass clarinet, flute, bass guitar.

A rising talent of the italian jazz and improvised music scene (voted amongst the best italian jazz musicians in 2010 Musica Jazz critic’s poll) Piero Bittolo Bon is a mainly self taught multi instrumentalist. he mainly plays alto saxophone but is also at ease on baritone and contralto, bass clarinet and flute. Sometimes he even performs on the bass guitar, which he used to play in several funk, rock and reggae bands, before he decided to concentrate his efforts mainly into wind instruments and improvised music.

Member of the fresh and much regarded italian collective/record label El Gallo Rojo Records, he’s currently leading his own sextet “Jümp The Shark!”, an ironic blend of compositon, freeform and hard groove, with Gerhard Gschloessl on tuba and trombone, Domenico Caliri on guitars, Pasquale Mirra on vibes, Danilo Gallo on bass and Federico Scettri on drums, and co-leads “Rollerball”, a rock-oriented jazz quintet with Beppe Scardino on bari sax, Enrico Terragnoli on guitar, Danilo Gallo on bass and Massimiliano Sorrentini on drums, not mentioning the many other bands he’s involved in, mainly with his Gallo Rojo fellows and with other major italian musicians. Recently he was called to be part of a new Uri Caine project, “Pulse”

He performed an recorded with italian artists such as Danilo Gallo, Zeno de Rossi, Beppe Scardino, Enrico Terragnoli, Stefano Senni, Francesco Bigoni, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Tiziano Tononi, Daniele Cavallanti, Francesco Cusa, Domenico Caliri, Giovanni Maier, U.T. Gandhi, Simone Massaron, Silvia Bolognesi, and with musicians like Anthony Braxton, Uri Caine, John Tchicai, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Jessica Lurie, Andrew Drury, Neil Leonard, Ernest Dawkins, Vincent Davis, Craig J. Green, Tristan Honsinger, Gerhard Gschloessl, Christian Lillinger, Tobias Delius and many others.

Simone MassaronSimone Massaron nasce a Milano nel 1971. Quando aveva quattro anni ha iniziato a studiare pianoforte con il padre Sergio, che è stato direttore d’orchestra. Nei suoi primi quindici anni suona diversi strumenti (pianoforte, chitarra, batteria) suonando in diverse band locali creando così lo sfondo per un poli-talento strumentale che gli permetteranno, in seguito, di meglio diffondere le sue idee musicali . A sedici anni si concentra sulla chitarra e se ne va all’estero a fare concerti in tutta Europa con una rock band locale. Gli anni successivi sono poi dedicati al jazz solo, frequentando masterclass con Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, Mick Goodrick, Marc Ducret e John Scofield. Il suo primo cd “Breaking News” esce per l’etichetta milanese Longsong Records, registrazione effettuata insieme con il suo eroe Elliott Sharp, e gli darà anche la possibilità di mescolare le sue chitarre con Nels Cline, Marc Ribot e di eseguire diverse altre registrazioni. Il suo stile sullo strumento mostra tutto il suo eclettismo e il suo piacere di muoversi attraverso i generi, come l’improvvisazione radicale, la musica avant-garde, il looping e live electronics, ma anche il blues, le sountracks in diretta su film muti, 60′s Lounge.

Tutto questo è possibile grazie alla grande tecnica strumentale che gli consente di vagare in zone sconosciute del repertorio della chitarra. Simone Massaron è una delle migliori fretless guitar in Italia e ha partecipato nel 2006 al “Fretless Guitar Festival” a New York.

“Dandelions on Fire”, il secondo disco a suo nome per Longsong Records nel 2008, con Carla Bozulich, viene acclamato della critica ed è votato come uno dei migliori dischi dell’anno da molte riviste musicali. In estate si esibisce anche dal vivo con Marc Ribot come duo. Dal 2008 membro del collettivo “El Gallo Rojo”.

Ha suonato con musicisti come Marc Ribot, Elliott Sharp, Nels Cline, Carla Bozulich, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Steve Piccolo, Gak Sato, Xabier Iriondo, Giovanni Maier, Tiziano Tononi, Daniele Cavallanti, Jenny Scheinman, Zeno de Rossi, Massimo Pupillo, Giorgio Pacorig, Alfonso Santimone, Emanuele Parrini, Piero Bittolo Bon, Carlo Garofalo, Achille Succi, Carlo Virzì, Craig Green, Scott Amendola.

Tommaso CappellatoTommaso Cappellato, Drummer and composer, spent a decade in New York crafting his technique and style. He received a BFA in Jazz Performance at The New School University, and took part to several musical projects playing all styles if music. He extensively travelled the world (Africa, India, Brazil, Australia, Japan) to tour and collaborate with many influential artists, including Don Byron, Michael Blake, George Cables, Aaron Goldberg, Steve Grossman, Debbie Harry, Jon Hendricks, The Jazz Passengers, Enrico Pieranunzi, Enrico Rava, Marc Ribot, Kurt Rosenwinkel. Among his latest projects are “Blackground Trio” with Don Byron and Fabrizio Puglisi, his own 14-piece Orchestra arranged and conducted by Michele Corcella and “Astral Travel”, a tribute to Spiritual Jazz and a dedication to the memory of late pianist, composer and arranger Harry Whitaker.

G. BenedettiGlauco Benedetti (classe 1987) intraprende lo studio della tuba in giovanissima età, iniziando presto a collaborare con enti lirici e sinfonici. Accanto all’attività di orchestrale coltiva da subito l’interesse e lo studio di altre tradizioni musicali quali jazz, rock e pop, esplorando le possibilità del proprio strumento nei più vari e spesso inconsueti contesti musicali.

Ha conseguito il diploma tradizionale di tuba nel 2008, nel 2013 il diploma di secondo livello di Jazz presso il Conservatorio “F. Venezze” di Rovigo. Ha collaborato tra gli altri con Francesco Diodati, Ada Montellanico, Achille Succi, John De Leo, Jacopo Jacopetti, Piero Bittolo Bon, Christian Escoudé, Marco Tamburini, Roberto Gatto, Roberto Cecchetto, Domenico Caliri, Pasquale Mirra, Marco Frattini, Enrico Morello, Enrico Zanisi,Tiziana Ghiglioni.. Ha partecipato al Back-up tour 2013 di Jovanotti.

Peter-Evans-200x300Peter Evans has been a member of the New York musical community since 2003, when he moved to the city after graduating Oberlin Conservatory with a degree in classical trumpet. Peter currently works in a wide variety of areas, including solo performance, chamber orchestras, free improvised settings, electro-acoustic music, jazz and composition.

As a performer, Evans has been working to broaden the expressive range of his chosen instrument and enjoys playing with steady configurations of players and composers. Current bands include the Peter Evans Trio, Quartet and Quintet, Moppa Elliott’s terrorist bebop band Mostly Other People Do the Killing, the hyperactive improvisation duo Sparks (with Tom Blancarte), duo with trumpeter Nate Wooley, as well as a sustained interest in solo performance. Other projects include two collaborative trios: one with Mary Halvorson and Weasel Walter, and Pulverize the Sound with Tim Dahl and Mike Pride. He also collaborates frequently with saxophonist Evan Parker, in small groups as well as being a member of Parker’s Electro-Acoustic Ensemble. Other collaborators have included: Peter Brotzmann, Barry Guy, Clayton Thomas, Jim Black, Okkyung Lee, Sam Pluta, Zach Hill, Steve Shick, John Zorn, David Taylor, Eric Boeren, John Hebert, Kassa Overall, Mats Gustafsson, Agusti Fernandez, Ricardo Gallo and Axel Dörner.

In New York, Peter also performs contemporary notated music and is a member of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE). This group focus premieres many new works from young composers as well as 20th century classics by composers such as Iannis Xenakis and Edgard Varese. Peter is also an experienced teacher, having given workshops on music, trumpet, and improvisation at institutions including the University of California in San Diego, the Birmingham Conservatoire, The Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, Northwestern University and the Hochschule für Musik Köln. In June 2008 Peter traveled to the Philippines with the Cultures in Harmony project, teaching, collaborating and performing with tribal musicians in Mindanao. Evans has performed at many of the major festivals for Jazz and Improvised Music, including the Moers Festival, the Ulrichsberg Kaleidophon Festival, Jazz em Agosto in Lisbon, Jazz a Mulhouse, Warsaw Jazz Days, the Vancouver Jazz Festival and Jazz Middelheim in Antwerp. In 2010 Evans had compositions premiered at the Darmstadt and Donaueschingen Musiktage Festivals, and was named as one of the top 5 “Musicians of the Year” for the second year in a row by All About Jazz New York.
