is the result of a long year cooperation between double bass Player Elmar Guantes and pianist Hubert Bergmann. Since over 20 years they work together in various ensembles. Starting her work in vienna, Ronin is now a finish for the present and a new concept of playing duo.
Bergmann, this is the Überlinger pianist Hubert Bergmann, Guantes the Munich bassist Elmar Guantes.
The two have known each other since the 80s, together with Patrice Heral or Udo Schindler. On the other hand, sets Guantes in Occhio Quartet with Limpe Fuchs, Zoro Babel and Hans Wolf its splash of color . With the HB- man his instrument rabidly and rapidly beaten right at the beginning from all sides , only to equal it makes the knocking woodpecker , after all sonorous the thick strings vibrate to move , so that now light miner piano notes crystalline. But with the change to bass bow shock the body and the Woody of his toy is made aware again . Kakophone scratches on bass and piano strings alternate with burgeoning bass sounds and deliberate attacks , frantic arpeggios with sublime drones like Pollock cal Action Painting with the wild irrationality and decisionistic gestures to images of Arshile Gorky and Franz Kline . Electronic hissing, gurgling or whirring metalloid underlines the motto : ‘Non Zenz ‘ . Tread Two masterless samurai , strengthened by ‘ Sa Ke ‘ and Wei – Zen Beer, Manga -do, the way the manga , of martial woodcuts to Akira and Dragon ball Sägeloops fall into pianistic strudel, Guantes ‘ Martial Art percussion moves itself the tricks of Clayton Thomas in a more modest light. The snarling and rattling trilling final cuts as the Great White Shark Jazzuntiefen . Surely , if they sound – on the radio or at festivals – is not on their gold swords / alone at the call of their hidden name. — [BA 75 rbd ]
